Lunar New Year Ceremony January 7, 2008 The Year of the Rat

This year on the Lunar Calendar is the Year of the Rat! In honor of this occasion, the families of Korean Focus-Indiana and the local chapter of the Korean War Veterans Association were invited to join the congregation of the Korean Presbyterian Church of Indianapolis for their traditional Lunar New Year ceremonies. It was truly a wonderful experience to share with all who attended. We learned how to perform "sebae", which is the traditional Korean bowing that is done to show honor and respect. The bowing was performed to honor the Korean War veterans who saved the southern portion of the Korean peninsula from communism during the Korean War. There were speeches given in honor of their efforts as well. It was very moving. After this we all enjoyed a delicious Korean lunch. It was a lovely time and we were so warmly welcomed! Membership Information We are now accepting membership applications for Korean Focus-Indiana (KFI). The benefits of membership are immediate notification of events and activities that KFI conducts and reduced programming fees for these events.    KFI seeks to  deliver quality programming related to the customs, art, cuisine and language of Korea. The types of programs offered are designed to meet the needs of the membership, as KFI exists to serve the membership. We expect to evolve into an oganization that  provides programs for preschoolers to adults.
